Learning how to mix music can be overwhelming, I get it. There’s so much to learn and sometimes it can be difficult to even know where to start on a mix. There’s a huge amount of information out there, but it’s often disjointed and it can take hours of searching just to find a video that only gives you one small part of the solution.
In this video, you’re going to learn, in 30 minutes, everything that you need to know to mix a song from start to finish. You’ll learn the theory that you need to know to get into the mixing mentality and you’ll learn the mixing process so that you know exactly where to start and how to finish a mix. We’re going to take things step-by-step and I’ll explain everything as we go along. This is your first step to becoming an Audio Pro.
The video is split into three parts –
In Part 1, I’m going to explain exactly what the purpose of mixing is and what you’re aiming for when mixing a song.
In Part 2, I’ll explain how you should approach a mix, and then I’m going to give you a full overview of how to mix a song from start to finish, whether that’s your own music, or if you’re mixing for another artist.
And in Part 3, you’ll find out when it’s time to call a mix finished and I’m going to give you the tools and resources you need to boost your skills further.
It’s really important that you internalize the ideas that I’m going to teach you so that you don’t need to actively think about it throughout your mix – you’ll just know what the song needs to sound good, and you can use your brainpower for making creative decisions.
Once you’ve watched through this video, you’ll of course want to put what you’ve learned into action on some mixes of your own. The best way to internalize what I’m going to teach you and start to build your mixing skills is to mix as many songs as you can. As you complete more and more mixes, you’ll start to internalize this and it will become second nature to you.
