In part six we go through automation. Automation is an essential, yet often overlooked part of mixing. It lets you change how a plugin affects the audio at different points in the track. This can help create balance across the mix. It can also add excitement and keep the mix aurally interesting throughout.
In this video you’ll find out how to use automation and some ideas on where you can use it in your rock mixes.
Next week, it’s just the finishing touches left to complete the mix!
Feel free to follow along with me on one of your own mixes! Applying what you learn in each part of the “Mixing a Rock Song From Start To Finish” series will help to get the process clear in your head, and push you towards getting the results you’re after in your mixes.
For more on automation, here are some more examples of how you can use it in your mixes.
